Pontiac Club of Iowa

Alzheimer's Cruise and Links:

In September the Pontiac Club of Iowa hosts a car show to raise money for Alzheimer's research. Because Alzheimers affects everyone the show is open to all makes and models. For the past 8 years the show has been co-hosted by Bob Brown Buick GMC (www.bobbrownbuickgmc.com) with awards and prizes distributed in several categories.

For several years our Special Guest was Johnny Orr Add'l Pic1 Add'l Pic2 who was very much committed to assisting the Alzheimer's Association before he sadly pasted away in December 2013.  His participation will be greatly missedJohnny's daughter Becky, her sister Lesley and her husband Rick Boylen presented the 2016 Coach Orr trophy.

With great weather and a strong turnout, trophies were awarded in several categories including the Club’s special recognition award,
the Ray Lynch Memorial Award for the Best Pontiac in honor of Ray Lynch, a long time / founding member of the Pontiac Club of Iowa. Ray's wife Jean with niece Peggy and brother Jim and wife Mary from Arizona were on hand to make the selection.

With the turnout and a generous donation by Bob Brown Buick GMC for each car sold on Saturday we raised over $5,000 at the 2016 Cruise bringing the total amount raised to over $40,000 for the local Iowa Chapter of Alzheimer's.

The Ray Lynch Memorial Award for the Best Pontiac

In 2010 the Pontiac Club of Iowa established the Ray Lynch Memorial Award for the Best Pontiac,in memory of long-time / founding member Ray Lynch who passed away after a courageous battle against cancer. Ray was a car guy from the get-go and loved everything that was Pontiac. In some sense there may be a connection with his passing and the passing of Pontiac as a GM brand in 2010. The award is bestowed by his family at the Club's annual car show to benefit Alzheimers. The criteria are very simple, "Which Pontiac would Ray choose" ?
